Hartnell listed as day to day after blocking shot

Scott Hartnell’s three-point night might have come at a cost.

The Flyers’ forward, who registered a goal and two assists in Tuesday’s 4-3 win in Buffalo, has a lower-body injury and is listed as day to day, according to general manager Paul Holmgren. The injury appears to have resulted from a blocked shot that hit him just above his ankle in the second period against the Sabres.

He was spotted at the Wells Fargo Center late Wednesday wearing a walking boot by the Delaware County Times' Chris Vito.

According to Holmgren, Hartnell was examined after Tuesday’s game and again on Wednesday, but the Flyers’ coach doesn’t appear too concerned about his status.

“We’ll see tomorrow,” coach Craig Berube said. “I think he’s OK. We’ll make a better decision tomorrow after the morning skate.”

An absence from Hartnell for any length of time would be a blow to the Flyers. Since joining a new line with Brayden Schenn and Wayne Simmonds, Hartnell has largely turned around his season.

He has five points (two goals) in his last five games.

“He is playing with a lot of energy right now and he is doing a great job around the net being physical,” Berube said. “And on the power play, obviously, he has a presence in the slot. He scored a goal last night. I think his game has been pretty consistent for a while now.”
