Flyers return Tye McGinn to Phantoms

Winger Tye McGinn was returned to the Phantoms on Monday.

McGinn has three goals in eight games with the Flyers this season. In 28 games with the Phantoms, McGinn has six goals and six assists.

But with McGinn back in the minors, the Flyers could be thin at forward. Matt Read is recovering from a concussion, though he could return for Tuesday's game in Buffalo.

"He is getting closer," general manager Paul Holmgren said. "We will make a decision after [Tuesday] morning's skate."

Zac Rinaldo is out of the lineup with a left ankle sprain and Steve Downie was a healthy scratch Sunday against the Rangers. If Read is not ready, with McGinn gone and Rinaldo injured, Downie likely will return to the lineup if Read can't play.

Young Kapanen drawing notice
Those of you who remember Flyers winger and emergency defenseman Sami Kapanen should know that his son, Kasperi, was named the No. 1 European prospect today in the NHL's Central Scouting mid-term rankings.

Kasperi plays for his father's team, Kalpa, in the Finnish Elite League. Kimmo Timonen is a part owner of Kalpa, as well.
