Eagles release RB David Fluellen

The Eagles on Wednesday released running back David Fluellen. The roster now stands at 89.

Fluellen (5-11, 224) had six carries for 25 yards and caught a 14-yard touchdown pass in the Eagles' 34-28 preseason loss to the Chicago Bears on Aug. 8. He did not play in Friday's 42-35 loss to the New England Patriots.

The 22-year-old, who went undrafted out of Toledo, rushed for 3,336 yards and 28 touchdowns in four collegiate seasons.

The decision to release Fluellen comes one day after the Eagles acquired running back Kenjon Barner from the Carolina Panthers (see story).

The Eagles have been thin at running back at times in camp. Chris Polk, Matthew Tucker and Fluellen missed the team's second preseason game with injuries, leaving Henry Josey as the only option behind LeSean McCoy and Darren Sproles.
