Tye McGinn had successful surgery on Thursday to repair a fractured right orbital bone.
“He’ll miss four weeks,” general manager Paul Holmgren told CSNPhilly.com on Saturday night.
The original prognosis was two weeks “if” surgery was not involved. However, the rookie McGinn will now miss four weeks.
Even when McGinn returns, he will likely need even more time before he drops the gloves again as the orbital bone needs to fully strengthen.
McGinn suffered the injury on Feb. 25 in a fight against Toronto’s Mike Brown.
His injury was the impetus for Holmgren to make a deal the next day for Kings forward Simon Gagne.
