Sorry, Sixers fans. The Rockets are finalizing a trade to send Jeremy Lin to the Los Angeles Lakers.
The Lakers will acquire Lin and Houston's 2015 first-round pick, according to NBA.com's David Aldridge. The move was first reported by Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports.
Houston needed to clear cap space to try to sign Chris Bosh, who is likely leaving Miami after LeBron James decided to sign back in Cleveland. The Rockets must also decide whether to match the Mavericks' $45 million offer sheet to Chandler Parsons.
Lin has a cap hit in 2014-15 of $14.9 million, a gargantuan figure that only a few NBA teams were capable of absorbing.
One was the Sixers, who were thought to able to acquire a draft pick or two from the Rockets just for taking Lin's contract.
