The Los Angeles Lakers held a pre-draft workout for Kentucky star Julius Randle on Tuesday, and not only was the probable lottery pick made available for the LA media, photos have surfaced as well.
Strangely, the Lakers, owners of 16 NBA championships, felt it was OK to allow a potential draft pick talk with the press while the 76ers quickly whisked away one of their potential top picks. That was after the police were called on reporters waiting outside of the team’s practice gym.
Anyway, recently Randle has seen his draft stock take a hit on the heels of a report that he might need surgery on his foot. It’s a story Randle has refuted via social media and his mother.
On Tuesday Randle met with reporters in person where he reiterated that he does not need surgery.
“I met with the best foot doctor in the country and he said he wouldn’t do anything with my foot,” Randle told reporters in Los Angeles. “No scheduled surgery."
In fact, Randle says he expects to play in the NBA summer leagues after the June 26 draft.
Most mock drafts have Randle being selected as high as the No. 4 pick (Orlando) and as low as No. 10 (Sixers). More than likely, Randle’s draft stock will survive the report he has to undergo foot surgery.
