Tonight's Lineup: Byrd moved up to cleanup
Share This Post

Marlon Byrd will move up to the cleanup spot and Ryan Howard will slide back to fifth in the Phillies' lineup for Wednesday.

The move, in addition to splitting up lefties Howard and Chase Utley, was likely prompted by Byrd's red-hot bat.

The right-fielder hit his 16th homer in Tuesday's 5-4 loss to the Marlins -- his third in two games and his ninth since June 1. Byrd has also racked up 49 RBIs and his slash line sits at .271/.324/.497 (see game notes).

Domonic Brown, who had two hits Tuesday, will not play Wednesday after being placed on paternity leave. The leftfielder could miss up to three games.

Cole Hamels (2-4, 2.84), whose ERA sits at 1.88 over his last 10 starts, faces off against Tom Koehler (5-6, 3.70).

Here's the full lineup:

1. Ben Revere, CF
2. Jimmy Rollins, SS
3. Chase Utley, 2B
4. Marlon Byrd, RF
5. Ryan Howard, 1B
6. John Mayberry Jr., LF
7. Cody Asche, 3B
