Today's lineup: Rollins returns; Nieves catches
Share This Post

After some miscommunication on Friday, Jimmy Rollins will make his actual return Saturday against the Cubs.

Rollins missed the last two games while away on paternity leave. He returns to the lineup batting second behind Ben Revere.

As Cliff Lee attempts to rebound from his very un-Cliff-like opening day disaster, Carlos Ruiz won't be behind the plate. Ruiz has the day off and backup Wil Nieves will catch Lee and bat seventh.

Other changes from Thursday: Chase Utley and Ryan Howard back together again in the 3- and 4-holes as Marlon Byrd bats fifth, and Cody Asche starts at third base, batting eighth.

Here's how Ryne Sandberg's club will face Cubs starter Jeff Samardzija in order:

1. Ben Revere, CF
2. Jimmy Rollins, SS
3. Chase Utley, 2B
4. Ryan Howard, 1B
5. Marlon Byrd, RF
6. Domonic Brown, LF
7. Wil Nieves, C
8. Cody Asche, 3B
9. Cliff Lee, P

And for Chicago:

1. Emilio Bonafacio, CF
2. Starlin Castro, SS
3. Justin Ruggiano, RF
4. Anthony Rizzo, 1B
5. Junior Lake, LF
6. Mike Olt, 3B
7. Welington Castillo, C
8. Darwin Barney, 2B
9. Jeff Samardzija, P

First pitch is scheduled for 2:20. For more on the matchup, see Mike Wisniewski's game notes.
