Phillies' spring finale canceled because of rain

Updated: 1:28 p.m.

All is set for opening day.

The Phillies-Pirates On-Deck Series exhibition game on Saturday at Citizens Bank Park has been canceled because of inclement weather.

That means next up is the real thing: Monday, opening day, Phillies-Rangers in Arlington, Texas, at 2:05 p.m.

Tickets for Saturday’s game can be exchanged for any regular-season game excluding the Phils’ home opener on April 7.

Meanwhile, shortly after the cancellation, the Phillies announced their finalized 25-man roster (see story).

If it means anything, manager Ryne Sandberg was planning on experimenting a bit with his lineup for Saturday.

Sandberg had Domonic Brown slated to hit third, followed by Marlon Byrd fourth and Ryan Howard fifth.

But spring training has officially closed. Cliff Lee takes the ball Monday.
