Domonic Brown rejoins Phillies in Pittsburgh
Share This Post

Domonic Brown returned to the Phillies on Friday and was activated from the paternity list prior to the game against the Pittsburgh Pirates at PNC Park.

Brown missed two games to attend the birth of a baby girl, his second child.

Brown was not in the starting lineup Friday as Tony Gwynn Jr. was scheduled to play left field.

“I thought it was best to let him get his feet on the ground for a day and then get him back in there (Saturday),” Phillies manager Ryne Sandberg said.

It has been a rough season for Brown as he is hitting just .225 with five home runs in 81 games. However, Sandberg dismissed the idea that the impending birth of a child might have been weighing on Brown’s mind.

“I don’t think so,” Sandberg said. “He didn’t bring up anything about it to me.”

Outfielder Aaron Altherr was optioned back to Double-A Reading. He went 0-for-4 against the Marlins in Miami last night.
