Ben Revere out again with injured knee

ATLANTA -- Ben Revere wore a wrap over his visibly swollen left knee Wednesday morning. He was out of the starting lineup for a second straight day as the Phillies played the finale of a three-game series against the Braves.

“We’re trying to get all the swelling out of there,” Revere said. “It would have been hard to play (Tuesday) night. I could probably pinch-hit today. It looks a lot better today than it did yesterday.”

Revere banged his knee flush into the outfield wall as he made a running catch on a drive to left-center by Freddie Freeman on Tuesday night.

“I hit it full speed,” he said. “The next day it swelled up.”

Revere believes he’ll be able to play Thursday in St. Louis, but it would not be surprising to see the Phillies exercise caution and give him an extra day.

John Mayberry Jr., hitting .357 with nine extra base hits in his last 20 games, started in place of Revere for a second straight game Wednesday.
